Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC sent a team of 16 church planters / missionaries to the city of Chicago March 27 April 3, 2010 to assist and experience six different baptist and evangelical church plants in six different neighborhoods in Chicago (Lakeview, Northcenter, West Loop, University Village, Roger's Park Garfield Park)
We engaged the people of the city with the Gospel and gathered a specific neighborhood-targeted information
Some facts: The Greater Metro Chicago area is home to over nine million people including approximately 2,000 people groups speaking over 200 languages. Evangelical churches claim only 5.5 percent of the population (only 1 percent Southern Baptist). Of Chicagos 50,000+ college students, nearly 98 percent are unengaged by any evangelical presence.
