  • I just mute these videos while I watch them.

  • Wait, I'm confused, at first it sounded like you were arguing for materialism because it's impossible to avoid - part of human nature. If it was, then how could anyone do good things for other people? Also, idealism isn't equal to moral utopianism. Idealism just argues everything is ideas, and that reality is the product of mind/language. I agree that our culture is too full of decadence, but you can't get beyond that if you don't have some hope of something different.

  • You're clearly an authoritarian.

  • Just watched and liked this vid, and understand what your saying, but I do believe greediness can be beneficial to society. Coveting different things and being inspired to ascertain them is what drives economy, and supports our widely wasteful and decadent lifestyles. It possibly keeps us from being in the position having as many poor, starving children in our own country.

  • Ya, I don't really like all those greedy, lazy people that pop out kids that they can't feed or clothe. I'm with you on that. But sex is so much fun, I can see why they do it. People always want more, just like you say. More kids, more sex, more of everything. I guess we're all just a bunch of selfish pigs.

  • If you give that kid a hug then he will remember it for the rest of his life but if you hug he/she every day for the rest of their lives then they will stop appreciating your hugs. Thats what its like for those people with the expensive birthday party. They recieve too much for their own good so they wont appriciate anything. But, If their parents were to throw them a birthday party that only cost $1000 dollars, then they will throw a disgusting fit.

  • Very well stated Heather.

Fortunately, there is a small but evolving recognition that the rampant consumption behaviour of "keeping up with the Joneses" practised by many is unsustainable. There are some who are talking about enough, as I discuss in the attached video.

    Peter.

  • How true :) I've changed my opinion about you now ...

  • sry that i'm not technologically inclined enuf to upload a vid response to tell you about myself or my own experiences like yours but just know that those hugs and candies are btr for those children than the million dollars that they would know nothing of how to deal with. they are richer because they value what really maters, family friends and good ppl like yourself. god bless and keep you all the days of your life, a new suscriber and long time fan.

  • I agree, there's probably little hope for humans: too selflish, too greedy, too predatory for our (or other species) own good.

Still, maybe, one day we'll learn to re-program ourselves for the better.
