The Top Ten Moves of Takuya Sugi

Before I get started, there is NO usable footage of the Shura. If he ever uses it again, and the footage is usable, I'll gladly take this down, and replace it with a new one featuring the Shura.



With that said, time to close out the high flying with one more spectacular video featuring one of the most insane high flyers in the game today. Takuya Sugi has wrestled under dozens of gimmicks over the years, such as Yoshitsune, El Blazer, and NOIZ, to name a few. He got his start training at Toryumon, and hasn't looked back since, appearing for Michinoku Pro, DDT, All Japan, and several other places. As of late, he's been working as Sugi San for the AAA promotion in Mexico, wowing crowds while facing off against the likes of Jack Evans and Extreme Tiger. To put it mildly, Sugi's style is one of the most spectacular aerial arsenals you'll find in the world today, with a beautiful Shooting Star Press, and other insanity, such as a Springboard 450 Splash, or the incredible Blazing Arrow, and the Lightning Strike.

Most likely, it's the original clip of him doing the move, and since it was aired by Gaora, it's unusable.

i don't think i've seen many wrestlers hit a shooting star press quite as gracefully as takuya sugi.......

the thing that's amazing about him is how crisp he is... other flyers you can compare him are really sloppy and botch often, sugi is always very clean with hsi execution

Oh I totally agree. I mean, I'm just concerned with how he got so huge in such a short period of time. He's somehow a better worker and more graceful than he's ever been. I just pray there's no long term effects.

Jeez, that sucks. It's really sad to see what happens to so many of these high flyers. When I look at PAC and the insane amount of muscle he's put on in the past couple years, I cringe and think about the Bulldogs. I hope I'm wrong, but it sure does seem that the flyers take too many risks these days, both inside and outside of the ring. Thanks for the info, mate!

hurt himself when he did a backflip off a ring post in 09 i think. he is ok to wrestle now but i think that there's somethings going on in his personal life and he also uses marijuana which is a big no-no in japenese wrestling feds.

Aw crap, really? Well, I guess that happens to most guys who take those kinds of risks. Hell, even Jack Evans learned to wrestle a wee bit in the past couple years. That's really too bad.

a few years ago he was being a dumb ass and broke his leg. he doesn't really do anything now and nobody knows anything what he has done since then.

How has this guy managed to fly so far under the radar while being so talented? I'm really surprised that in the last few years he hasn't gotten more of a look from bigger feds. He seems like a natural for Dragon Gate or DGUSA. Maybe even ROH. Maybe he just doesn't want to be pinned down and maintain his independence?

i don't know y, but i love the costume he was wearing when he did the standing shooting star and the miracle rocket g5
