On 4/25 at 0956 hrs TFR units responded to 4603 N Florida Avenue, the Seminole Heights iconic diner Nicko's, for reports of smoke coming from the roof. On scene within a couple minutes fire crews reported light smoke coming from an electrical panel on the roof. The diner was closed for the evening. Fire crews had to break into the diner to assure the fire had not spread to the interior of the building. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes, no injuries were reported.
There did not appear to be any fire damage inside, losses estimates are not available at this time. Electrical power to the building has been turned off until the electrical problem can be isolated or fixed. It is unclear at this hour if the diner will be able to open for business in the morning.
TFR responded to this one alarm fire with 3 fire engines, 1 rescue car, 1 ladder truck and a chief officer. An estimated 19 responders were on scene from fire stations in Robles Park, Downtown, Seminole Heights and Hilldale.
