GPS guided ATV

This is a kids ATV modified to be controlled from a innovation first controller (Servo stirring and Victor 884 motor controller).
The controller is connected to a laptop that in it's turn connected to a compass and a GPS receiver anda camera.
On the PC there is a virtual map of the test arena , and using ASTAR algorithm and the Data from the GPS and the compass the ATV can fined it's route from any starting point in the arena to a preentered destination point. For better accuracy the WAAS / EGNOS GPS Augmentation system can be applied!

The ATV has 5 ultrasonic sensors (Maxbotix LV-EZ0) and a bumper and when it encounter an obstacle on it's path it enter the obstical position to the map and recalculate a path with the ASTAR algorithm to the destination point.

A vanishing point algorithem is being used to move in side bildings

For safety reasons the ATV is connected to a wireless dead man switch that let the operator stop the motors .

The project has been held at ORT Hermalin (Israel) with the collaborating of the Technion computer science . and by Liron Dina and Dvir with my guidance on April 2010.

In this demo the ATV is driving without the compass .
