Speakerphone
(c)Rebecca Moore, March 2004

The voice
on speakerphone
is asking you
to understand about the end, the end

in this room
sound filters in
from the next-door dream
Im trying to come clean

sometimes you say: im not really here - no ive never been here...
were shadows in the fog.
And even silence will disappear someday
so why wont you hear me now -
im trying to come clean...
and I know that you dont mean
to come off so damn cruel

We are wandering buffalo,
just searching for the stream,
too heavy for our own good...
moving slowly in a haze of golden dust
im trying to come clean but I feel so lost
in this cloud of songs
that you left me.

so now - ive got to go
do you understand about the end the end the end the end
and though were not really here, no weve never been here
I found you in the dust
and while were trying to come clean
well both have to trust
that well find each other in the end
the end the end the end...

  • Peace and beautiful days dear Rebecca

Come anytime we await you in Portland,

    your room is ready!

    xxxx Sheila

  • beautiful woman; beautiful song, now another artist that has left New York, along with the clubs...a cultural crises has enveloped the greatest city in the world...how sad.

  • what a great voice and so beautiful....

  • She's amazing, and definetly someone I admire greatly and who inspires me.

I agree with what another commenter said, she would be absolutly wonderful to film or photograph. She has an original and raw beauty, but it's striking at the same time.

It probably helps that she is so driven and talented.

This is one of my favourite performances ever. It's simple, and dark, and moving. Especially the end.

I hope at somepoint in my life I can catch one of her shows.

  • I would love to know how to play this...what a gorgeous song!!

  • Moogieboonfilms thanks for lyrics

  • captivating.
