No I am using the Backmann DCC Controler quite simply to use once you have gone through it a couple of times.

Yes I would recommend sound... How ever it can be alittle tricky operating the loco depending on what controler you have for DCC. I would rate it at 8/10 the sounds are very good, and you have the option of running the loco without sound of course which I often do if i am working on the layout and just want to turn the wheels on the track.

I currntly use all Bachmann DCC equipent The EZ Controller and the loco is also Bachmann.. I like this this and find it all works very well. I have not tried any of the Hornby equipment so I am unable to tell you what that is like.
