What If? Episode 2

*Liz's POV*
I placed my phone on my bed and looked at the mirror. I was scared to see the reflection, I didn't know what to expect. I glanced up and saw myself. My brown hair rested on my shoulders and my hazel eyes seemed to sparkle under the light. I wasn't extremely beautiful, but I could be somewhat pretty if I tried. My mother always said I was gorgeous, as all moms do, and that I should show people how truly beautiful I was. I never really listened until now. Maybe she was right? Maybe I had potential. I didn't really know. No. I'm fine the way I am, right? Oh well. I just pushed the thought out of my head. Tonight was just like any other night. I ate dinner and it was silent, I'd clean up the table and kitchen, and then sneak off to my room to text or go on my AIM. I decided to go on AIM. Nobody was on.
"I'll call Ellen," I thought out loud. I picked up the phone and called her. "Hello?" She answered. "Hey Ellen!" I said. "Hey Liz. Whats up?" I could tell she was busy with something. "Am I interupting anything?" I asked. "Oh, no, sorry. Just getting ready for tomorrow. Now, whats up?" Now I had her full attention. "Well, Joe's back and I saw him!" I said, excitedly. "Oh, how is he? You still have the hots for him?" She asked. "No, he's my best friend!" I said, trying to lie. But I suck at lying. "Yeah, a best friend you've had a crush on forever!" She stated. "Whatever. I gotta go but I'll see you tomorrow." I said. "Yeah, tomorrow. Bye." She said as she hung up.
I finished getting my stuff ready for tomorrow and I just layed there, thinking. Just thinking about random things. I doozed off to sleep as I got lost in my thoughts.
"Liz! Get up. You don't wanna be late for your first day of school!" My mom screamed from downstairs. "Ughh!" I groaned as I turned over onto my side. I stretched and got up. I went threw my drawers but no success. I didn't find anything special to wear for the first day of school. Just a pair of black skinny jeans and a purple shirt. I picked up my backpack and shoved my phone into my pocket and took a quick peek in the mirror. I looked decent enough. I went downstairs and sat at the table with Vicky and mom. They both looked amazed.
"When did you decide to wear real girl clothes?" Vicky said, smirking at me. "Well, I am in high school, so I thought I might as well try." I said, trying to get them to believe me. I didn't. "Yeah right," she said, "You're trying to impress someone aren't you?" I glared at her, "No." Thats all I had to say. I finished breakfast and headed for the door. Before I left my mom said, "Have a good day!" I smiled and said, "I'll try." I waited at the end of the driveway for the bus. When it came I stepped on and saw Ellen. "Come on Liz! Sit here!" I sat next to her but the bus stayed silent. We finally reached school and everyone got off. "Here we go," I said. "Another great year in high school." Ellen said with a sarcastic tone. I spotted Nick and ran to him. "Nick!" I said. He turned to and smiled. "Hey Liz, Ellen." Ellen quickly waved at him and whispered in my ear, "Gotta go. See you at lunch." She left and I returned my focus to Nick. "Let's go get our schedules and see if we have any classes together," he said starting to walk into the school. "Ok." I said following him. We told the secretary our names and she handed us our schedules. "Let me see," I said as I snatched Nick's schedule away from him.
I scanned the papers and said, "Well, we have every class together except math." He looked up and said, "Oh man! Thats my worst subject!" He smiled and continued. "Now I can't cheat off of you!" I giggled and said, "Don't worry. I can still always help!" He laughed. "Well, I'll see you later. Except for math class," he said as he started to walk away. "Bye." I said. I looked at my schedule and started walking down the hall without watching where I was going.
BAM! I knocked into someone. I dropped my stuff and tried to pick it up.
"I'm soo sorry. I'm such a clutz!" I said trying to get up.

*Joe's POV*
"No, its my fault. Sorry. I grabbed her arm and pulled her up. She looked up at me and it was Liz. "Liz?" She looked up and nodded. "Yeah. Joe? Oh, I'm sorry." She said. "Oh, its completely fine!" I reasured her. She laughed and I ever noticed how cute her laugh was, or how pretty her eyes were. Whoa, Joe, STOP! You can't fall for your best friend! No. Not possible!
"Well, I better get to class." She said, still giggling. "Oh..um...yeah. Me too." I said. She began to walk away. "Wait, Liz!" She turned and smiled. "Yeah?" I smiled back and said, "After school meet me at my house. Ok?" She smiled bigger and said, "Sure." She walked away, leaving me wondering, What was going on? Do I actually like her?
