http://TheTennisVault.com In this tennis tips video, Coach Mauro shows you exactly HOW you should be snapping your wrist when hitting a modern forehand - and more importantly, what you should NOT be doing when attempting to add more power and topspin to your forehand shots.

  • Your wrist snap combined with the racket rising on an inclined plane will put a wicked Magnus effect on the ball

  • @Chipinjack It sure will put something extra on the ball chipinjack, the wrist snap is the ultimate racket head speeder, we just got to know how to use it "properly" (cM)

  • Hi coach Mauro, I'm John from Reno and I appreciate your tennis tips. I have a question about the "modern forehand". Is the modern forehand for everyone? By this I mean should 5-8 year old kids begin learning it wilthout any transition and is it a good stroke for older players. In other words, how do you determine whether to use old school or the modern forehand? Thanks...

  • @Mr052857 Hello John, thanks for your feedback, glad the videos help. In my honest personal opinion, there is no 1 and only correct or right way to hit the tennis ball, mostly if you are a recreational player. There is more than 1 way to hit with correct fundamentals, it's a matter of a choice as to what feels more comfortable. I advise for the complete player, of 2012 type tennis, to learn to be able to do both type follow through, I've used both all my life, since wood rackets (cM)

  • Mauro, is this different that the windshield wiper? I remember you gave a great analogy of "waving" with your hand in a previous video. Thanks again for the great posts.

  • @jimmons2002 Thanks for your words, glad you enjoy the posts. This is a different type of windshield wiper action of the wrist (and also forearms), in which the wrist rolls over the ball with vigor right at impact point and provokes way more top spin, than if a player keeps his wrist cocked all throughout the windshield wiper action till finish more like for example a Serena Williams' topspin style, which is a little easier to handle or master for most club players I believe (cM)

  • I'm watching this video thinking how I could won more highschool matches if u were my coach lol this video helped so much! U just made my forehand hat much better

  • Best tip ever! thanks.

  • WOW this helps , theres ths guy that used to always beet me and made me run but now i win and make him run!

  • Hi Coach Mauro! I have been experimenting with this, I think as you say its more of an advanced movement because the timing has to be right and the wrist movement has to be vertical. In the past I heard "rolling over the ball" was a no no but now I do see many players doing it. The ending position is much more to the side. One thing I like is my arm feels more relaxed at the end of the swing as opposed to when my wrist is laid back all the way thru the swing. Thanks for posting!!
