About 100 people turned out for the West End Residents Associations (WERA) community forum on Nov 21, 2009 (Saturday) at the Empire Landmark Hotel. During the two-hour meeting, participants shared their questions and concerns about two rezoning/development applications (1215 Bidwell, and 1401 Comox) that could trigger a wave of radical changes in the West End, despite the absence of an up-to-date community plan. It was clear at the meeting that these two applications have forced people to articulate what they DO NOT WANT, but the meeting also had a proactive tone with the idea that now is the time to articulate a vision for what the community DOES WANT for its own future.
