This is easily the most vocally and physically challenging song in The Fantasticks. They must dance, act, sing, and perform humor all at the same time. Luisa's notes are particularly difficult.
For those not familiar with the play, Matt (the young man in the background) has gone off to seek fame and fortune, leaving Luisa behind. The older man in the foreground (El Gallo) is to "seduce" her, and the men in the background are to give Matt some quick lessons in life. This is all planned so that the two young lovers can get back together and appreciate what they have.
In order to understand what I think of as the funniest line in the scene, you need to know that when she said "faker," she means "faquir." A faquir is a Muslim or Hindu mendicant monk who is regarded as a holy man. (They are the ones who lay down on nails.) She sees them laying Matt down on the bed of nails and calls him a "faquir." (She doesn't recognize him as Matt) NOW you'll get the joke.
