Here we had an extremely tight shcedule to remowe a whole restaurant kitchen. We also had to remove the 15mm thick epoxy coating from the concrete.
The whole project was located in the second floor of Vaasa´s biggest shopping mall, with hotels, restaurants, night clubs and shops of all kinds. To make matters worse the job had to be done only few days before Christmas when people are shopping presents and spending their vacation.
So we couldn't use hammers of any kind, at least for a long period of time. The reason for this was the concrete structure that carries the hitting sound from jack hammers very far and at high levels.
The solution was a swinging planner set to cut only 15mm/draw, mounted to a Brokk 180 carrier, the smallest and lightest (1930kg) for the Simex PLB300 cutter.
With this unit we could work continiously from 0700-2200, which was important to keep in time schedule.
yes! you are right on that! The epoxy coating is harder than concrete, so if it is not loose from the base then it's very hard to remove.
The reason for removal was that it had leaked water trough the coating, so the concrete was all wet.
The same type of surface cutter is also attachable to the bobcat, but because tight spaces and exhaust fumes the fume less robot is a better choise.
