Album "tony r clef - tuesday afternoon" on Itunes

"She's Leaving Home"
Lennon and McCartney
The Beatles

I've worked on this arrangement off and on for 30 years! But really I finally took it a little more seriously a couple months ago and hammered it out. Dedicated to those parents out there that have children leaving home for the first time. Woo hoo, party at your house!

The thing I don't understand in this song is the line "Fun is the one thing that money can't buy". No, actually, money is REALLY REALLY good at buying fun. Was this a case of John inserting a lyric and being as wry and ironic as possible? But it doesn't fit. "LOVE" is the one thing that money can't buy. Can't buy me love, and all that...

Speaking of money (ahem), as you can hear in the video intro, my album "Tony R Clef - Tuesday Afternoon" will be released on Tuesday September 27 on Big Round Records (bigroundrecords.com). I'll put up a link to the album on my channel and hopefully it will be available on Itunes shortly as well. Hope you will check it out. Thanks!!!

My arrangement. Learned by ear. I have nothing written down.
Taylor NS54-ce, hybrid classical

  • There are very few instrumentals that I listen to and actually find myself singing along to - superb!

  • @Socratease1

    thanks

  • Superb rendering. I have always appreciated how guitaristic most of the Beatles catalogue is, making the temptation to arrange their work hard, if not impossible, to resist. This is not to say the material does not present formidable challenge which you have obviously dealt with... count me a fan.

  • @fritzquarar

  • Você é mágico e não violonista! Você é fantástico! Parabéns!

  • Dude... Very good.

  • @carvetop01 For the record, She's Leaving Home was not produced by George Martin. On page 103 of The Beatles Recording Sessions book by Mark Lewisohn it states that George Martin had other commitments that day. McCartney called Mike Leander who wrote the string arrangement which was recorded on Friday, March 17th 1967.

  • Always Beautiful my friend......Bravo!!!!

  • Its very hard to improve on a Beatles song, but you certainly did it justice =]

  • i totally agree with you about that lyric! i've always felt that exact same way. I thought Paul always wrote this one though...anyway, fantastic playing. Easily one of my favorites that you have done! I'm definitely going to buy your album immediately!
