“History Today” was created in the second TV series of ‘The Mary Whitehouse Experience’ and the catchphrase "that's you, that is". It continued throughout the subsequent Newman and Baddiel “In Pieces” series. The sketches saw two old Professors (Rob Newman & David Baddiel in suits and grey wigs) fire constant schoolboy insults at one another under the pretence of a historical discussion show.

  • @Blinky3341 your mum does it with you for money she gives you your pocket money and you give it right back

  • @Blinky3341 I have just been looking through the whole of History Today looking for this - and the following "your mum does it with you - for money - she gives you your pocket money and you give it right back".

  • classic....!!!!love it.

  • Rob Newman is still writing recording and performing comedy as far as I know. I have his 'Apocalypso Now' CD's from a live show. Yes he's gone very political but he's rather brilliantly woven together politics and wonderous comedy seamlessly into a unique and brilliant act. It leaves you dazzled at both his knowledge and wit. Your head hurts from the density of information and your stomach from laughing. I see he has a website at robnewman dotcom if you want to know more.

  • @TheStarman68 .....I think he disappeared up his own arse, he and Baddiel fell out big time after these stadium gigs. I was a big fan of the Mary Whitehouse Experience back in the day, I think Newman's routines became political and right-on beyond actually being funny

  • see that one dislike?

    thats you that is.
