My Dad died of Alhz'ers 11 yrs ago. After that my Mom, who was once cool, became homophobic = anti-gay.
Because of that, I - the gay one - broke off all ties to my family in CT & we haven't spoken in over 5 years.
This song, w/lyrics = "Your Mother may talk about you... they don't care how you tryin' to live..." brings me comfort.

Damn, what a fine singer...I gotta get out and see her live, though looking at her tour schedule I don't see her coming to my corner of the map anytime soon. I see that she's gonna do some shows later this year with the Blind Boys of Alabama up in Canada - that's a double billing I'd love to see.
