The full recipe:
1/2 kg oats (preferably large and organic)
1/4 kg mixed whole nuts (e.g. hazelnuts and almonds), skin on if possible. Yes, I know I said 1/2kg nuts in the video, very sorry ...
1/4 kg mixed seeds (e.g. sunflower, sesame and a little pumpkin and linseed)
2tsp cinammon
good grating of nutmeg
pinch salt (optional)
150g agarve syrup (or honey, but agarve has a much better GI / GL)
150g apple sauce / apple butter
1tbsp sunflower oil
200g mixed dried fruit and berries (e.g. goji, cranberries, raisins)
Some natural yoghurt and fresh berries to serve (if you are trying to get in someone's good books).
Mix all the dry ingredients together apart from the berries. Separately mix all the liquid ingredients, then combine the two well.
Spread the mix into two large foil-lined trays and bake at 140 C / Gas Mark 1 / 280 F. It takes 35 mins in my oven, but check early.
When cooled for 5 mins, put the lot in a big mixing bowl, add the dried fruit and berries, mix and break up any large pieces.
Store in an airtight container. I've no idea how long it will stay fresh as it's never lasted more than a few days in our house!
Serve with milk or tart it up with yoghurt and berries.
Love it !!! Carol
