Geoff Goddard's fourth and final single was SKY MEN, released October 1963. HMV POP 1213. Composed by Goddard and produced by Joe Meek. While too original and unconventional to experience chart success upon release, it has since become an acknowledged pop classic. Some critics now consider it one of the finest recordings ever produced by Joe Meek. It is one of the most frequently covered Geoff Goddard compositions.

This video utilizes documentary footage of UFO sightings, notably the famed (and controversial) Plejaren UFO footage of Billy Meier. UFO art by Jim Nichols, used by permission of the artist. The sounds heard over the end credits are the actual recorded sounds of a Plejaren "beamship" or spacecraft.

Geoff Goddard maintained a serious interest in the UFO phenomenon throughout his adult life.

  • @gtgene

yes. i have sufficent reason to believe (as informed by a bloke in the pub, who turned out to be a engineer for geoff's first album 'these sea monkeys aren't doing it for me') that he use a bugle with a funnel.

  • It's been one of my favorites for a while. I wish Geoff Goddard lived long enough to see it revived on youtube.

What kind of instrument gave that kazoo-like sound? Any Meek-freaks know?

  • @zebra64 THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW VIDEOS OF THIS SONG THIS IS THE SPACEIEST
