@superduck714 negative... straight pipes from the headers measuring 2-2/12 inches in Dia. will keep the back pressure. too much back pressure and the exhaust will stay in the pipes too long and create unnecessary heat. too big of a pipe will not let the exhaust flow uniformly and create turbulence/ more heat also. like i said a 2-2 1/2 inch pipe right about to the xfer case will make her purr like a bitch in heat.
did you build up this system your self or did you find a kit? i called flowmaster and they said there is no such system available for a 2000 cherokee xj
Straight pipes might increase hp, but these 4.0s need back pressure to make the low end torque they are known for. So a muffler of some type is best for that. But straight piped with long tube headers are awesome for high end hp.
I used to run 40 series on my Duster, sound bad ass, i run a glass pack on my XJ, its not bad, but i think i might roll with a flowmaster 40 series soon.

You should look into an electric fan conversion.

Nice sound... I love that low deep sound. Kinda of what mine sounds like.

@4wheelinking im about to get a series 50 for my cherokee, and also a 3" rough country lift but keeping the stock tires, for now anyways

sounds good, but it sounds stock. I agree, totally a 40 series. If you wanted the 50 series sound on an I6 Jeep then just stick with stock.

Good stuff but... it's really bad to sit there and hold revs with no load like that.

when we say "straight pipes" we mean no muffler, still a cat...at least most of us do because it's illegal to run without an cat in most states...
