Oh please. Good thing the mobile market is soaring then.

Google the market share statistics and you will see that Linux systems never even reach 10% for anything other than mainframes, supercomputers and mobile devices. That isn't likely to change in the foreseeable future. Linux systems are already more efficient than Windows and yet few people actually use them, for a good reason.

Gaming (at the moment) is true, but I wouldn't doubt workstations.

If that went more like *starts Ubuntu, runs AutoCAD 2013*, i'd be surprised ;) Linux flourishes only in areas where the user is expected to only perform a limited number of tasks such as servers, routers and phones, as you mentioned. You will not see Linux on professional workstations or gaming platform PCs. It's great that Linux is free, but it disappoints on so many levels.

*Holds up Ubuntu USB, inserts it into computer, and installs it* Freedom. Anyway, Linux flourishes in other markets like server, cell phones, routers, ect..

Yep. But in a world where the desktop is dominated by Windows, Linux does not provide an adequate alternative, thus there is no real freedom.

That's true for all operating systems.

The freedom to have to re-learn everything about using an operating system.
