Both the Samsung Beam I8520 and Nikon Coolpix S1000pj have built-in projectors, but one's an Android 2.1 smartphone, the other's a compact camera. This impromptu comparison isn't scientific, but it gives a pretty good idea of which device produced a better picture quality.

  • wow such bad quality...

  • @pubtor Trust me, it looks a lot better in real life... the video quality of this video doesn't quite do justice to the projection...

  • SAMSUNG RULES

  • @RandomDirectors

I would also like to know more about this.

  • can you pull a 40-50" screen out of the samsung beam or would it be too blurry

  • Thanks for the comparison! and good job :) I can't wait for the Samsung Beam to come out so I can buy one. Hopefully this is a feature that will be implemented into all smart phones of the future. But I also like the projector on a camera idea. Eventually though I think phones and point and shoot camera's will begin to merge after they figure out how to achieve optical zoom on a cell phone. But looking at the S.E Satio and Nokia N8, the quality is already there. :)

  • Wow, amazing! Thanks a lot for sharing :)

Btw isn't the bad quality (nikon) caused also a bit by low baterry (indicator in upper right corner) or bad focus?

And where did you get the i8520? Do you know, which exact CPU model is in it (+frequency) and when it will be avaiable for sale? Can't wait for it, I love all parameters of Beam (especially the display), only thing I'm worry about is the CPU, so I'd love to know what cpu it has (1Ghz Hummingbird would be perfect :)) Thanks

    L.
