This video is dedicated to the associates that worked at the Kmart in Wadsworth, Ohio. On February 3, 2010, the associates received the news that the store was scheduled to be closed. The first day of liquidation was February 21, 2010 and resembled that of Black Friday. The store closed May 9, 2010, just 5 months shy of its 30-year anniversary. I worked at this store from October 2000 to June 2008. I will miss shopping there and stopping in to visit with my former coworkers.

The songs in the video are "Our Town" by James Taylor, and "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas.

  • So, did they ever do anything with that building? Now that it's been more than a year? It'd be a shame for the building to just be languishing there the way so many Ames and Caldor stores seem to up north.

  • @YukoAsho No, the building is still empty and is currently for lease. The doors are covered in black and there is grass growing through the cracks in the concrete on the sidewalk and patio area. It is sad to look at :(

  • That is sad to see an old store close up. That looked like one of the nicer K-Marts, the one by me, is kind of run down, floor and ceiling tiles missing, old cash registers..etc.

  • @KLM817 It was one of the nicer stores. It had been repainted and had a new roof put on a few years before it closed. It did need some work, but overall it was in decent shape.

  • My store was a K-Mart then turned Sears Essentials then in May 2011, after 6 years as Sears Essentials, we got word we were switching back to K-Mart again. The liquidation process was painful to say the least, Emotionally and physically, it does indeed resemble that of black Friday in many ways. My co-workers and I were broken down by the end and it was sad to look at our empty store. I was one of the few that were lucky enough to still retain my job after the liquidation.

  • @longislandny143 I am now currently at the Kmart in Medina, Ohio. It was the first 24-hr. Super Kmart, but was converted into a Big Kmart when the grocery department was liquidated in February and March of this year. More than half the people lost their jobs, but I am still there. That side of the store is now blocked off and is just a big empty space.

  • Good job Miss Brandi! Not looking forward to losing you as a co-worker at the Medina Kmart. Are you going to do another video? You definitely are a bright spot in Kmart's history.

  • The video needs commentary, narration, someone talking.

  • @gooca96 What you have said is true, however, when you have grown up with a company, where your mom bought your clothes, Christmas gifts, school supplies and used their Lay-A-Way plan to get the things needed for you and the house hold, these kinds of feelings develope over time for that company. And then when you become an adult, you remember those days when that company runs into hard times and store closings.

  • You guys are funny. Your acting as if a person died or something lol. You have sad music playing in the background ppl leaving stories about kmart. It's a business folks they eventually go out of business.

  • I don't think our Kmart will last very long either they keep going from Kmart to sears and back again it's now going back to kmart for the fiftyth time in three years
