I came across this snake one afternoon on a cool spring day. Curled up just 3m from a picnic table where a family had just had lunch, it probably went entirely unnoticed. The sun came and went along with the clouds, so the snake stayed in a tight coil to try and keep what warmth it could. A couple of times I seemed to scare it as I snuck up on hands and knees but 20 minutes later it was back out and curled up again. It allowed me to sit quite closely...well 1m is as close as my camera will focus unfortunately, but as I remained quite and still it dozed in the patches of sunlight, until the sun disappeared and so did the snake until another day.

  • Yeah, I agree with Stocky, you put yourself in INCREDIBLE DANGER quietly observing a creature that stalks and eats WHOLE KANGAROOS and European tourists, sometimes on the same day.

    :o

Nice hold on the focus there. Love that slaty grey of early spring.

  • I'm amazed it did not chase you down and attack you till you were forced to take its head of with a shovel, we all know how smart, vicious and vindictive Tiger snakes are :-)

  • Good one Greg, looks like a nice spot.
