children-especially girls from 5-13yrs. And much of that was of marketing products, Dolls, posters,lunch boxes,etc. My niece had a "Punky Brewster" lunchbox and makeup kit I bought her for Christmas back then. I had a hard time getting it due to the fact that the show was so popular the stores were sold out! Ridiculous!

@da959 -Well getting old, that would make both of us. At the time as a teenager I didn't think much of this show back then and who knew it would be one of the blockbuster TV legends that it is today? You had better writers, producers,etc. unlike today which is more interested in getting ratings than overall family entertainment. The show only lasted 4 seasons, and there were competing shows like "Cheers" which went on for 10 seasons and won numerous awards. This show had more impact on young-

@VirgilB01 Well,as far as those "reality" shows, you can count me out. I get enough "reality" from 8 to 5 and when I turn on the TV (or You-tube), I want to be entertained and maybe have a good laugh. I totally agree that most of TV these days is nothing but pure junk. I guess that's why I prefer watching re-runs of old shows like this. Sheeesh! I must be gettin' old! It's hard to beat an older show like this though. That's for sure..

@da959 - It got replaced with junk and "reality shows" that no one except those under 20 cares for. These types of shows are long gone. These were NBC's golden years of Television. No longer.

I love this show, and I love that it has happy endings, I was adopted luckily enough, my adoptive parents fought for custody of my foster brother and unfortunately weren't able to adopt him, haven't been able to talk to him since. sadly that is real world, this show brings me to tears every episode. I wish all foster kids had happy endings.
