Want to adopt a sweet little dog?

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing you.  Our family needs help finding the right home for our dog.
CONTACT: Bridget Garcia at bridgetggarcia@gmail.com

FROM THE OWNER: Bogie is a 2.5 year old dachshund who weighs 13 lbs.  We have had him since he was 9 weeks old - we got him from a family whose pet dachshunds had puppies.  We love him so much, we often refer to him as our son.  He lived with us in our apartment in Los Angeles and was a great dog.  When I was about 5 months pregnant, Bogie snapped at me one day and got my finger.  He did it again a few weeks later.  Around this time he was getting dog aggressive and would lunge at other dogs when we were on walks.  We worked with a trainer and got him down from the couches and bed, and he was better for a while.

We moved to a different apartment in Pasadena.  This apartment is noisy and he gets upset with people slamming doors in the hallway or dogs barking and fighting in the courtyard.  Two weeks ago he got into a dirty diaper left my my brother-in-law on the floor.  My step-father tried to pick him up to clean his face, and Bogie bit his finger.  We talked about what we should do, and we decided we couldn't give up on him because he is our family.

But yesterday, he bit the baby.  None of these bites were bad - none required stitches or antibiotics, and the baby's was the first one to be seen by a doctor.  However, we know that he is too stressed for this environment and needs to find a better home.  As a mom to both of these little ones, I have to protect them, so that is what I'm trying to do.  It breaks my heart.

Bogie is such a sweet dog.  He loves to cuddle.  He LOVES to play fetch and run around.  He is up to date on all his shots and has been neutered.  He is potty trained and knows how to use a doggy door.  He is SO CUTE!  I can't imagine life without Bogie in our home, but I know that I am doing the right thing for him and our baby girl.

Bogie would do well in a home with a yard with room for him to play fetch.  Although he can be dog-aggressive on walks, he loves to play with other dogs that are introduced to him, so he would have fun living with another dog.  He should be in a home that does not have young children.  He loves kids, and loves to play with them, but he doesn't like to be poked or chased or backed into corners.  Older kids who understand how to play with a dog would be ok.  I think a house or very quiet apartment would be good for him so that outside noises don't stress him out.  He is a very loving, playful pup who will be a great addition to the right family.

  • @YoungBrave2006 ummm. that's a cat toy.

  • @JamieAndSassenach I agree. Dogs that bite someone who is not being aggressive to them is not dogs I would ever want to have. My dog jumps up all over me, and even scratches me; but she does it out of affection and stupidity, and she never bites anyone, even people that are being potentially aggresive to me. I would actually like for her to learn to recognize threats better, although I do know she's badass. She once killed a bat in complete darkness. That's a bats turf.

  • @YoungBrave2006 I mention it because it looks like you're twirling a huge gummy worm in front of them. If that is not the case, disregard my earlier comment; but still, do not feed them dry food, and do not overfeed them.

  • You shouldn't feed your cat sugar to your cat. Felines are exclusionary carnivores, If you feed it anything other than meat, you will spend a lot of money on vets and have to put it down eventually. An ounce of prevention is worth more than crying over your dead cat's corpse.

  • actually, dogs tho have lost their bite inhibition have to be put down.

(at least in germany we've got that law, which is good, because a dog that has once bitten someone (esp if it is someone 'below' their rank, like a baby) get really unpredictable!!!)

so do not adopt that dog!

  • The second you said there will be four sections, I said, "The first section better be kitties." Because obviously that's the most important. Not your career or anything.

  • cute kittens :D

  • Yay!! I'm glad to know that the sibling kittens found a home!
