My name is Cassie Kinoshi. I am 18 years old and studying music at the Music Conservatory in Greenwich - London. For as long as I can ever remember, all I have ever wanted to be was a musician. I want to compose. I want to perform. I want to write brilliant songs for artistes and I want to produce. Above all I want to be a film and video games composer. I am inspired by composers like Danny Elfman, Joe Hisaishi and John Williams.

I have no doubt that to achieve my dream, it is going to take me lots and lots of hard work. Hours of practice, some astonishing luck and simply coming in to contact with a whole number of people who I have yet to meet.

I started playing classical piano at the age of 6. I adored the piano and fell in love with the works of Mozart and Chopin. In the fifth year (aged 9), I took up the clarinet, played in the school orchestra and the county junior wind band as lead clarinetist.

I found my true self when I discovered the alto saxophone in year 8 (aged 12). Since then, it has been the alto saxophone that has been at the centre of my musical life. alto saxophone,

I moved up to the senior county wind band as lead tenor saxophonist and occasionally play with the National Jazz Youth Orchestra in London.

The highlight of career so far has been winning a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA for their 5 week summer performance course during the summer of 2010. Berklee College and the music scene in the USA has transformed my thinking. Musically, the US is the real land of opportunity for what I want to do. I have to start at the very beginning though and that is winning and funding my way through music college whether that be in the UK or in the US.

This website is all about my journey to become a professional musician. It is a showcase for my ideas and aspirations. Its about letting the world know where I am trying to get to and sharing my music with anyone who wants to listen to it or play it. Its about my growth as a composer and performer. I am not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination. I am not a child prodigy. Just a simple girl who has an absolute passion and dedication to music. I am just starting out. I want to learn, I want to grow so any feedback that could help me would be welcome.

Thanks Bassman. Cassie won a 5 week scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts last summer and is off to university this august (in London) and I hope good things will happen with her music. Have you checked out her other videos in Japanese? I will upload them asap.

  • This video is of Casssie Kinoshi - a rising star in the Jazz and Pop Music world.

Cassie composed this song two years ago and has many others on her YouTube Channel: TeaAndSpongeCake. Go take a look and listen.

Cassie not only sings in English but also in Japanese, which she taught herself to read and write.

I would like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the Japanese people at this time and we wish them all the best for a speedy recovery from their terrible tragedy.
