He turned off those air supply canisters because they force the fuel through the pipe into the car at pitstops‚ if he hadn't...well doesn't really bear thinking about.
-
the worst injured of all was the rothmans porsche team director nobert singer his burns put him in the hospital for one week
-
what exactly does air do for the fuel tanks? Also, how would it cause the tanks to explode? In any case, thank god for that pit crewman

It's a good job that pitcrew member was a quick thinker and turned off the air supply to the fuel tanks, otherwise there would've been an almighty explosion which would've had tragic consequences.

there are always idiots everywhere.
I have once seen a "fan" carelessly stepping on a frontwing of a 70s formula 1 car, when the pits where open.

WSC stands for World Sportscar Champioship. It´s the series in which one class introduced in 1982 was the Group C, which stands for consumption. In 85 there where 4 classes in WSC (C1,C2,B,GTX)
It´s like today where the series is LMS, and the classes are LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2
