Does that actually partition the hard drive or does it just create a file so that you can store changes etc. like a normal OS install?

No it doesn't partition - Just makes a Virtual hard disk file to install the OS onto

hey i changed my veiw to full screen and i cant rember how to change it back to small window screen how do i do that any sugestions cause i need some way back to my orginal stuff with out ctrl alt del
