LoL, funny thing is this guy would be considered too heavy to be covered by the healthcare act XD
LoL again: 26% approval = good?
Furthermore, Its good that these guys are doing this on some sidewalk stairs, theyre practicing being poor... Which is what Universal healthcare will make them!
And yes, America used to be about competition. You get what YOU earn, for better or worse. If you want a land of fake rainbows where everyone holds hands, go somewhere else, don't drag all of us down too.
Healthcare is the single most important issue in the 2008 election. United States is the only Western industrialized nation with out universal healthcare. The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Kucinich is the only canidate who coauthored the HR 676 bill, a bill that was supposed to lead to a more healthier and prosperous America through single-payer, universal healthcare.
l8rthen, This issue is about health care. This issue is not about housing and transportation. This issue is not a poor person's issue. This issue is affecting 48 million people without insurance due to denial of pre-existing conditions, which out of a list of hundreds of items is acne. In addition, due to high premium costs. This issue you have not educated yourself on obviously.
I am steadily working on the educating part. I understand that we are talking about healthcare. My q was that I am trying to understand why this would not also be a poor person issue? Thanks.
It is good that you are trying to educate yourself on the issue. One book I suggest reading is "Critical Condition" by Donald L. Barlett & James B. Steele. This issue effects every stratus class of the American people, i.e., employers can not afford, employees switch jobs, pre-existing conditions, etc.
Yes, this does effect "poor persons". How it effects them is they are faced with decisions of paying insurance or paying for heating or paying insurance or paying for food. They do not make enough to cover both. Just put yourself in that position and tell me how easy it would be for you.
Yes, this does effect what used to be the "middle-class". How it effects them is from big to small businesses they can not afford to pay high insurance. They blame "labor" costs, but the real cost is the insurance. They refuse to pay or they adopt less coverage for employees. When they get laid off, the former employees get offered "COBRA", but it's cost is too high. In between jobs people go without or get refused if they have pre-existing conditions.
Yes, this does effect the "rich and ultra rich". How it effects them is the "labor costs" are much higher. They reduce the amount of coverage and force employees to pay more. The real costs are the insurance premiums. If they try to get individual insurance themselves, they are denied or waived because of pre-extisting conditions. Remember, the insurance companies are in the business of denying benefits.

Of the 45 million uninsured Americans:
18 million are aged 18-34 - they spend 4 times more on alcohol and dining-out and spent zero for MEDICAL insurance
17 million Americans earn over $50,000 dollars and choose NOT to purchase insurance
9 million Americans earn over $75,000 per year and choose NOT to purchase insurance
