CTF Federal Research Director Derek Fildebrandt discusses the $116 million pension and severance payouts to defeated or retired MPs in the aftermath of the 2011 Federal Election. According CTF calculations, 17 MPs are eligible for a pension in excess of $100,000 annually. Derek debates the outrageous MP pension plan with retired Liberal MP Keith Martin. Derek says the MP gold-plated pension plan must be scaled back.

NOTE: After this interview, Keith Martin, refused to show us documentation of his pension. Contrary to his claim (3:30), Chuck Strahl's pension estimate is NOT lower than Martin's: http://www.taxpayer.com/sites/default/files/2011%20Election%20Pensions.pdf

  • What do expect from the parasite class who get to make all rules.

  • MPs are crooks. Only years that they balance the budget should be counted as penisonable years.

  • As long as we continue to believe that gov't is a necessary evil, nothing will ever change. Gov't gives us just enough benefits* to make us believe that they are necessary. Even pimps feed and clothe their hos (hoes?)... And it's so sad that I've been paying CPP for 20 + years and yet by the time I'm old enough to claim it it will likely be gone.

    * ("benefits" which truly only benefit us in the present while holding future generations responsible for the bill; great fiscal responsibility.)
