These are the SUPER basics of the diabetic exchanges.... I could get more in depth with it, and plan to, like menu planning, but wanted to start here first. I hope its not too boring ;)

Here's the site I referenced:

  • Did you design the meal plan that you showed at the end? Or did you find it online? And if you did design it, would you mind sharing it? I've decided to switch to this method and from your worksheet it looks helpful!

  • Thanks for making this video. Very informative. It should help me out alot.

  • i didn't know anyone still used the diabetic exchanges anymore. been type 1 for almost 6 years and no one has ever mentioned it to me. interesting.

  • @ceramicheart150 wow can I say 'information' one more time?!

  • This is super informational & should help a lot of people who need information on servings & broken down nutritional information! Thanks for taking the time Jason :)

  • The diabetic exchange can be confusing which is why we should thank Jason for trying to help us better understand. In almost every nutrition class I have taken, there is a section on the Diabetic Exchange. Everyone is different and a certain diet that may work for one individual may not work for another. How can having options hurt?

  • Jason, You totally amaze me with your wealth of knowledge. I am inspired by you, by your videos and perserverance. Thank you for your contributions to the weight loss community! I love you!!

  • thanks for the good info and website.

  • Why would you muddy up the simplicity of a healthy diet like this? I know you didn't come up with this, Jason, but this is terrible.

With a basic amount of knowledge concerning nutrition (right nutrition) you should be able to look at a food and be able to tell that it's something you would or would not want in your body.

This isn't even how diabetics should eat. I've read stories of people ridding themselves of diabetes II with a diet very dissimilar to this.

    Good info, regardless. Thanks.

  • Aww Jason, I love watching you talk :)

Is there anything other than cheese for the meat category? Because I've recently given up meat...

    Thanks so much! <3
