But it's worth noting that a portion of the "Manson family" that Manson influenced to commit the crimes were under the influence of amphetamine and other drugs. I'd say the drugs likely made their minds much more open for corruption than a normal person's would be.

@Alf90100 I'm just using them as a specific example that everyone can agree with. Being old doesn't stop the ability to influence and control people. In fact when you're old people are probably more likely to listen to what you say since you're "wise" and crap.
I'm agnostic dude, hell I consider Christianity and Scientology to be equally crazy. Just one happened to have their little story told a few thousand years earlier than the other.

The church only consists of the leader, Fred Phelps and 71 members, most of which are members of his family [many just kids].
It's really nothing more than an over-the-top, compulsively attention-seeking baptist church. Why not just mention Christianity in general?

@kris10ish I agree on your first point, but people would definitely listen to him. Look at the Westboro Baptist Church for example, their "cult leader" is like a million years old. Until he gets Alzhemiers/Dementia or loses his ability to speak, he can very well be a threat in that regard. Some twisted people worship this guy.
Don't get me wrong, as far as convicted murders go he's pretty freaking hilarious, but keep that crazy fucker locked up for life.
