I discovered tribal fusion one year ago, watching belly dance vids, then I saw Rachel Brice, and it blew my mind. This californian style mixes technics from belly dance, flamenco and gypsy dances, indian classical dances. Girls invented a new look i would call theatrical, between Heroic Fantasy, Gothic and Conan style, and they dance on any kind of music, electro or traditionnal, classical or pop...
Although I'm not really part of the tribe, no tatoo, neither gathering very much, I feel very close to this movement, as it seems to me it improves women freedom and strentgh!
So if you liked this vid, visit Carolena Nericcio, Zoe Jakes, Amy Sigil, Djeynee, Sharon Kihara, Belly dance superstars, the Mamas of the style, and you'll find the other ones, so many great dancers!
To me Nina Hagen is a tribal fusion queen, as a singer, because she mixed opera style and rock'n roll, and created her own way, assuming beauty and violence, spirituality and wildness.
This session was recorded an inspirationnal december sunny afternoon in Mediterranee, just after Christmas, only freestyle but from the heart, one shot, very emotional, very funny!
