This delightful longcase clock is by John Wray of Brigg, Lincolnshire and is made with such fine proportions that it would grace any home.
John Wray was recorded as a clockmaker in Brigg from 1800 to 1856
( reference Lincolnshire Clock and barometer Makers by A.S.H.Wilbourn & R.Ellis FBHI).
The flame mahogany panels are inlaid with satinwood and fruit woods and there are barley twist pillars to each side of the dial.
The case was most probably made by H.Parker of Hull who is well known for this style of clock case. He had a cabinet workshop in
Charlette Street Mews making these typical East Riding clock cases.
The dial with Roman numerals, date aperture, and subsidiary second hand dial, was most likely made by Walker and Hughes, and features
a thatched cottage by water scene, painted quarter spandrels, with gold edging to the dial.
This genuine honest clock is untouched with the only work being undertaken has been a full service of the movement.
Supplied with winding crank.
A great longcase clock of historical interest particularly to Lincolnshire, Humberside and Hull residents.
