How do you know when to replace the life straw? Is it one of those that you are due replacement when you start to taste a difference and will it not be too late by then? How much do they cost?

Hi thanks for your comment.

The LifeStraw can filter approximately 700 liters of water or has a shelf life of about 3 years. When the straw reaches the end of its lifespan it will become increasingly difficult to drink through.

They cost R100 - South African Rand.

It is impressive for its size, the expect it to delivering 140 days of safe water to an adult doing manual labour in a hot climate at around 5lt a day. Also with what boiling doesn't remove - solids and heavy metals, some taste and colour, it should. The price still seems a little high though.
