  • Let me guess, this was also filmed in the early 1990s, telling by the NWA Old Colors Circa. 1990. Also the call sign on take off was "Dynasty", was that a Air China taking off, taught it was an Atlas Air. =P

  • Filmed in 2004

  • Cool! Are you guys planning a DVD with Malév Hungarian Airlines,or a video where the aircraft lands or takes off from Budapest Ferihegy airport?? Keep up the good work!

  • We made 2 Videos of Malev... About future plans we have no info...

  • Really? Thanks for info. But I haven't found them on the justplanes website, are they sold out?

  • Yes, they sold out about 8 or so years ago...

  • thank you so much for posting this! our dad Wish Armstrong flew for atlas & we unfortunately never saw him fly before he passed away. he was our best friend & it's great to put visuals to the stories.

    with the most love,

katie & all of pilots wish

  • The Atlas Air DVD was my 1st just planes cockpit dvd, and from far the best these guys ever made. There are only 3 legs on this dvd of approx. 2 hours, that means all these flights are well detailed and explained. The callouts coming from the pilots are clearly understandable, not broken off by atc chat, which is really enjoyable.

    Keep working like that!

  • Same here my friend! I have the PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies. I always start out cold and dark, enter the plan into the FMS just like a real pilot and go as far as using the correct exterior lighting as needed. I print out the IFR plates and use the depart SIDS and arrive STARS. I even go thru the proper shutdown checklist. These videos really inspire me. I'll never know the joys of flying a 747 for real, but I can get a taste! Thank you JustPlanes!

  • I'll never be anything more than a Flight Sim pilot, but I strive to make it as realistic as I can in every aspect, 4 years into it. That said, this video is a model of technical perfection and professionality from which any serious FSer can learn from and model, and the aesthetic beauty outside the cockpit is a great perk, too. Well done!

  • i dont know about anyone else but this was probably the most fascinating videos ive seen online in a while.. i often see atlas air 747s landing nearby

  • i bet the cathey pacific was at that time there too ,,i have seen the atlas air and the cathey pacific land one after the other in miami coming both from anchorage

  • where was the takeoff?

  • it seems like there going slow at 80knts and at v1!

  • INS and IRS (of which IRUs are a component) are two totally different systems - the IRS being the current style of navigation system on all current model jets. The INS was phased out around the introduction of the 744.

  • I got the Polar Air 747-200/400 and must say, it was worth it! It was 205 minutes of my life of some amazing footages inside the jumbo jet. I really want to invest in some more of your movies, however, I will not get them from the store I got the Polar Air one from. Everything there was way overpricesd. Next time, I'll get it from your website. Maybe you should post some clips of the Polar Air 747 for everyone else to see. Again, amazing job on the footage!

  • No. 747-400 has 3 INS (IRU's) systems, backed up by 2 GPS units.
