Calling the Last Hit at Tiger Stadium

On September 27th, 1999, the Tigers played their last game at Tiger Stadium, against the Kansas City Royals. Late in the 8th inning, on the way to an 8-2 victory, Detroit catcher Robert Fick rocketed a ball deep into right field for a grand slam.

Later, Ford Motor Company gave fans a chance to dub their own commentary over this momentous hit.

Man we had some bad announcers for a few years there. Too bad George Kell wasn't still in the booth at this point. I really miss George and Al on TV and Ernie on the radio. Something about the voices of those men was so comforting. I loved their laid-back conversational style.
