THIS LAND IS FOR THE UPPER CLASS WHO RULE , EXPLOIT US AND TREAT US LIKE SHIT..SO AS MUCH AS I LOVE THIS SONG, FALSE CONSCIOUSNESS....ITS THE LAND OF THE UPPER 2% WHO OWN US...AMERICANS ARE TOO FU..ING STUPID TO REALIZE THAT....A PAYCHECK MAKES THEM HAPPY, BUT DONT REALIZE THE EXPLOITATION AND B.S. THE RICH GET AWAY WITH ...KILL THEM ALL..THEY ARE LIKE CANCER TO THIS SOCIETY...pete..long island...

I love Woody Guthrie. This is perhaps the worst version I have ever seen of this epic song.
-
@thundermaster41 This is not a Patriotic song, this song is a protest song against Capitalism.

I grew up in the 60s & early 70s, listening to Peter Paul & Mary. Today I enjoy their music as much if not more than I did then. They sang of Peace, & Love, something we do not have nearly enough of in this world!

I am crying now. I had the honor of listening to Peter and joining him in song with many others-young and old, we were one and full of hope. Later I talked to Peter about Nam and how their songs brought us peace. I thanked him for the song he sang against prejudice to any group including gays. We talked about the suicidal gay youth I work with in trying to help them understand their significance. We huged, pictures were taken. It is one of my most cherished possessions. God bless you P,P, and M.

@ sloopy312,
Wow ! That is great that you got to meet Peter Yarrow !
I met Paul Stookey briefly in a small children's bookstore where he was playing children's songs. Got to talk to him a bit and shake his hand.
