Running on the 64-bit version of Ubuntu Linux. Please note that the 32-bit version of Dolphin for Linux does not function properly, or at least not for me.

The video lags from the recording program. Also I set the program to record at 15 frames per second. Just keep that in mind when judging the performance.

As you can see that was my first time playing in that galaxy. I will post more vids in the future when I figure out how to get the sound recorded also. The sound works nearly perfectly in the game, its just that the program didn't record it.

Ohh the irony, Playing a Wii game on a Linux PC with a Windows Xbox 360 Controller!! Who would imagine?

You can also use a real wii mote with the emulator. I however was using an USB xbox 360 controller when I recorded this video.

Any questions? Just ask!

If you live in Washington state and would like to buy my computer or have me help you with computer problems , contact me at dealcentral253@gmail.com or through youtube somehow.

Thanks for watching!

How to Install Ubuntu 64- Bit:

The iso image is free to download from ubuntu.com
Look for another youtube video detailing the instillation. If you burn the live cd version and boot it, the installation GUI is pretty easy to follow.

How to Install Dolphin:

Once you have Ubuntu installed click "system" then "administration" and then "Hardware Drivers". Install the recommended video driver. Before you do that make sure your connected to the Internet. And installing system updates beforehand wouldn't hurt either.

After all that, click "applications" then "accessories" and then "terminal".

Go to this url :http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wiki/Linux_dependencies

and then copy and paste the command it details at the top of the page into the terminal. Its really long!

If it didn't execute the command then hit the "enter" key on the keyboard. This command downloads the source code and compiles it for you. This requires Internet access too. When its finished the application should be available in your Home folder. Click "places" and "Home folder". From there go into the folder that mentions dolphin then go into the binary folder and then the linux folder. Click the file called "dolphin-emu". The emulator should then start.

Playing Games:

This link details what kind of DVD drive to buy that will allow you to play your retail wii game.

  • dealcentral, how to you do this? And can it be used on laptops or Windows XP? (my computer)

  • @Pokemon4an1

This application would require a high end laptop. One that costs around $1000 new.

You need to loose Win XP, its ancient ! Install Ubuntu 10.04 and then update it.

  • I have a INTEL Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8Ghz. ,2GB RAM DDR2, ATI Radeon HD 4770 512 Mb GDDR.My OS is Windows XP SP3.Can it work at me?

  • @milanezzu04 Yes it can. Just try it.

  • Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gamecube Edition

  • @StormOwI It looks fine to me...and the graphics on the wii are just a tad bit better then the gamecube anyway.

Linux kernel 3.0 and higher has wii controller support built in at kernel level. Come ubuntu 12.4lts, (assuming it runs kernel 3?), I will look forward to this Dolphin running on that set up with a bluetooth dongle and a wii remote! Have you tried anything like that other than your xbox360 controller? Not dissing the xbox360 controller of course. It is cool.

  • run i7 with windows, this is fast on dat

  • Soooo damn slow !

  • I have a Athlon XP that i can'tget dolphin on! please help. :(

  • @MetalxShredder600 lol douche

  • @deathsminion25 Yeah, tried all the steps you mention. No worries, I can play wii and nintendo games in full speed on my Windows 7 x64 OS. Manage to finish Zelda Wind Waker and Resident evil remake. I get 25-30 on Fatal Frame 4 (full speed is 30), it only slows down to 20 frames when I'm being chased by the Final boss but it seems most dolphin users experience this fps drop so it doesn't bug me that much.

  • @SpardaDVLKing3 Did you use the newest Ubuntu(11.04)? and the automated partitioning or try to use gpart(manually partition option) and messed it up that way? Ubuntu gives me 20 more frames when running Dolphin than Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit version.

  • @deathsminion25 Well I was planning to dual boot my PC with UBUNTU but it fucked my PC real bad but I managed to fix it. I just dual booted my PC running with XP with WINDOWS 7 X64, it seems a litttle bit faster when it comes to dolphin, about 3-5 frames.

  • @SpardaDVLKing3 Yes, the 32bit Ubuntu is also faster than the 32bit version of Windows(dolphin)

  • @milanezzu04 You will get some lag when playing but it will work if you don't mind that. Ubuntu is better because more of your computer's resources are available, especially without the wasted RAM Windows causes.
