I just finished playing Dodger a week ago, and this did seem really high... Did he do it up the octave by accident ? I was the practice pianist as well, so I've seen the score, and the singing line is supposed to be way lower (atleast it was in my score)... It's in the key of D, right? I mean, he did a great job considering it was so high, excellent in fact (I know I wouldn't be able to handle it), but it was weird coming across the video and hearing it sung so high. I give him props.

It is hard to believe the kid who plays Jack Dawkins is only 13! He is so much taller Oliver! :P lol he seems to be shouting to get out the notes... but still very good :)
well done!

You're correct in saying he didnt make any key changes to his singing. . .but he WAS singing an octave higher than is usual. You can tell where he's talk-singing his way through because he cant hit the notes.

why did he sing the song so slow and high

You're right, it is slower than the original. I hadn't noticed that before. This was the way he was taught to sing it. The musical director arranged it that way. As for the "high" you mention..it's definitley not any higher than the musical score was written. No key changes were made. The song was actually too high for him and he had to make some adjustments in his singing. Are you a student playing this role sometime soon?
