A farewell video to two of the three grade crossings along Amtrak's ex-PRR Harrisburg Line. This line has a crossing at Irishtown Road (MP 59.2) in Ronks, PA, and crossings at Eby Cheques Road (MP 77.8) and New Comer Road (MP 79.3) just outside Mount Joy, PA. Construction of two overpasses (one at Irishtown Road and one between Eby Cheques & New Comer Roads) is slated to begin sometime this year, and all three crossings will be closed upon completion of the bridges.
With the temperatures hitting the high 60's, I took my camera out to cover two of the crossings, and the result was all seven weekday trains operating through the area between 10:30am and 2:05pm. Here is what you'll see on this video:
Irishtown Road:
Keystone trains 646 (eb), 609 (wb), and 648 (eb)
Eby Cheques Road:
Keystone trains 643 (wb), 650 (eb), Pennsylvanian 42 (eb), 43 (wb)

That time is coming, yep! This is supposed to be the last year for them....
Looking at the area around Irishtown Road, a bridge there will look so WRONG!!!

Last I heard Irishtown Rd. is supposed to be bypassed by building a road to the side of the tracks to the nearest underpass, Eby Cheques is supposed to be bridged, and Newcombers is to be discontinued entirely.

Yep. Newcomer is going to get a link into Eby Cheques south of the railroad somehow when it is all done and over with, if I read it right.

so are they actually getting around to this now? Seems like they've been talking about removing them forever haha. great video though!

Yep. The last I heard back in October, the initial work at Irishtown was to begin in March and the Eby Cheques/New Comer replacements was to have begun in January this year. It would appear nothing was underway yet, so I am betting they are waiting for warmer weather...
