The 51st edition of the All-Japan Mokei ("Model") Hobby Show was held October 13-16 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

Scott and Brian take a walk through Tamiya and show some of their latest release model kits including the new 1/350th battleship Yamato, M51 Sherman Tank, D.520 ACES aircraft along with some old classics that have been rereleased.

  • So the difference between the new Yamato and the one currently available are just the upgraded main turrets and the photo etch parts?

  • @miyoshi82 Oooooh no, no, no! This new Yamato kit is an all-new tooling, using NOTHING from the old kit! The detail and accuracy is light years ahead of the old kit (which wasn't bad at all). I repeat: all new, and all COOL!

  • The Yamato looks awesome. I have the original and will definitely be getting it ASAP. Just need to find the room for this beast. Probably somewhere with my Akagi and Kaga in this scale.

  • Camera man did a great job panning out from the Yamato.

    Also that model kit... WOW, what a huge undertaking that would be. Plenty of fun to be had for hours.. fun or frustration.
