Mike Patrick believes there should be no DOCSIS 4.0, but instead ongoing, incremental upgrades to DOCSIS 3.0.

  • @pain365 Are you kidding me, that modem is a beast. I have bought 3 for myself and my family, and 2 others for friends. None of the modems have failed, and I haven't heard of any of them trying to restart it. I think you just got a lemon mate.

  • The Motorola docsis 3.0 cable modem is not a very good modem. Always drops connection and reboots randomly very unsatisfied with this Motorola product. But stores do not sell any other type of Docsis 3.0 cable modems.

  • LOL i def agree we need FTTP cable only holds us back

  • Mike Patric has the right idea, current cable infrastructure still has an enormous capacity and FTTH is still an premature and costly practice. If cable operators can save cash for future investments in technologies, maximize infrastructure and sustain speeds comparable to FTTH and Line Bonding VDLS2 then why not. All the while slowly deploying/testing/perfecting the transition to PON/GPON.
