The Servant of God, Albino Luciani, John Paul I, had once of the shortest papacies on record --33 days -- but, as his successor and namesake, John Paul II, once said, "the greatness of his pontificate is inversely proportional to its length." He was the first pope to give up the tiara, the sedia gestatoria, the papal we, the first to call God "Mother," and one of the greatest spiritual teachers of all time. This modest tribute doesn't begin to tell you half of it, but I hope to do more . . . Santo subito!

You can find out more at my blog:

(The music is "Nun seid ihr wohl gerochen" from Bach's Christmas Oratorio. Very fitting for such a joyous man!)

  • I know the evidence points to the bank corruption as the murder motive, but I bet he was going to expose all the child abuse too.

The truth may all come out in his examination for sainthood. They have to look at every aspect of his life and work.

  • @ksol1460tv: Yes, I know this will probably be the blurb for the next best-selling book about him. And there will be no more evidence of this than there was for the bank corruption charge. Please read my blog three w [dot] pilgrimage [dot] subcreators [dot] [com]. There is a link on the side about the JPI murder theories.

  • I was born in 1981, John Paul II and Benedict are the only popes I've seen in my life so far, but John Paul I looked like such a wonderful joyus man, although I loved John Paul II, I wish John Paul I would have been around longer, he would have done great things for the church.

  • @CAtholic29 wow, calling me by by name, what an insult! how about giving me one of those evil exorcisms that you evil people do? =)

  • @jason101other He's actually in heaven 33day pope stands for 33rd degree masons he didn't accept any decree of Vatican II and wanted to Change it

  • This "smiling pope" is not smiling anymore because he is in hell, to be resurrected at the Day of Judgement to be judged and condemed by HIM who will not give His Glory to another. The catholic church is mystery babylon the great, mother of harlots and abominations of the earth. She is the earthly church of lucifer.

  • JPI was murdered by Opus Dei - as he was going to suppress them & expel their ecclesiastical masons from the Vatican. He would have totally reformed the corrupt Vatican. He actually intended to SELL the major art treasures & building; relocating the few truly necessary offices to small, humble quarters - & give the proceeds to the poor!

He was truly God's choice as pope. But he was murdered & replaced by JPII - a pawn of OD.

  • The Church killed Him and in doing so condemned itself...

  • This Pope had more kindness and decency than any Pope in recent times and obviously this would not sit well with the modern-day Vatican who had to rid themselves of this great man.

Your memory will always live on. God Bless Albino Luciani Forever!

  • @JcracksBitch The little boys will tell

  • May rest in peace.
