  • bmws fan clutches go out 100k time to replace plus rad

  • @LOyalty80911 I hear rocker arm clatter in this video, maybe that's the noise you mean? I've got a 91 325i and I know you're supposed to adjust the valve lash (clearance between the rocker arms and push rods) at certain intervals because they can become loose over time and get louder. A little rocker clatter noise is normal with these engines especially when running cold, but if it's overly noisy they probably need adjustment.

  • When she was running cold was the old fan clutch making a funny sound? I no my fan has gone because I can stop it with my hand. But that sound I said about stops when the car warms up. Is that sound coming from the fan clutch?????

  • That test didnt tell you the clutch is broken, all it told you was that its not engaged. Stop the fan from spinning, turn of the heat and wait until the radiator is nice and hot (about 5 minutes) than allow the fan to spin free wheel. The hot air coming off the rad and is what engages the viscous fan clutch... let it run for a few seconds (about 25) and try this test again. the fan SHOULD be engaged now

  • is thats whats making that noise is the fan clutch???? please respong my car is making the same noise and i jus bought a new fan clutch.... well appreciated

  • Try to adjust valve joke and then control fan clutching.... This m20b20 has terrible sound.

  • @samosx21 mechanics will say any thing lol he made 100 bucks of you

  • your fan clutch is working just fine buddy dont sweat it.

  • @guri131 yup the fam does not need to be at full the whole time it should gradually catch and spin over a period of driving/running

  • Good job man spread the word and keep your e30 happy!
