Take a peek at our system administration team hard at work on one of the many pre-launch projects.

  • I danced around my room for 4 minutes straight to the whacky fun beats of this video. I was in my underwear while doing pelvic thrusts in front of the mirror. I proceeded to do the funky chicken while moonwalking. Then i started doing the MC hammer like dance kind've like the male orc does in World of Warcraft.

    It was pretty rad, yo.

  • In 1 years time, WolframAlpha's data centre will grow to 5 times its current size. And in 2 years, 10 times. In 3 years, they might need a data farm as big as Google's. Anybody wanna bet?

  • thats my gaming rig 2011

  • now that the hardware setup is complete, who wants to be the Network IT that works on this mothafucka =D

  • @regularguy316 I was under the impression ravman007 thought a typical server could suddenly take over the role of those machines. I will accept that I should not have assumed he was a typical CIS major, and should have taken into account a highly specialized server that as far as I know isn't very typical.

  • @gellis713 - I think ravman007 is correct. He cannot argue with an idiot like you can he? We recently off-lined some 650 servers onto one virtual box. 64 CPUs and 256GB ram. And a second one in NJ acting as disaster recovery. I think it's you that needs to educated himself on how virtual server technology works. Our servers number crunch terrabytes of data 24/7.

  • @ravman007 You haven't even addressed what I said. I'm not going to argue with someone who obviously doesn't understand basic computing concepts. If for some reason you feel like drawing this out, please let me know how you will magically turn 500 servers running at peak performance into one virtual machine. Thanks.

  • @gellis713 - I don't even know why I'm trying to argue with an idiot. You're only going to try and take me down to your level and beat me with experience.

  • @ravman007 Key word "servers". Plural. You aren't going to turn 500 servers that all do high performance calculations into one virtual server running on one physical machine.

  • @gellis713 - Hmm, we seem to be running high performance processes on virtual servers without any issues at all. Number crunching terrabytes of data all day long. But what do we know?

  • @ravman007 You can't virtualize all of those machines. Please tell me of one physical server that can do the computation of all of those machines.
