The whale had found people and didn't have his own so it didn't matter if people left him alone or not. He was going to stay around people and do things until they interacted with him. Orca are very social and need contact. They are not a solitary animal. If he didn't have his own kind he was gonna figure something else out! Shows how smart they are!
