This is my second video of PowerChess. Running in a virtual machine under windows 95. I switch on the most comprehensive commentaries, so You can imagine the real power of this program. Once again I play"The King", while "The Queen" analyses the game afterwards.

  • I have tried many set ups with his game.

The best is Virtual PC 2007, with Windows 95. And it does not matter that it is the USB supporting version of Windows 95. Only it has to be 95 although the game is called "98"

It never crashes in that set-up.

I had to advertice after a "Full version 95"

It only cost me a box of chockolate.;-)

  • "The Queen's rating is 2350 ELO"

  • The player plays "The King" with a rating of 2100 ELO.

After the game "The Queen" comes out and annotates and analyses the entire game.

She finally donates rating points to the player. The rating becomes very precise. I know becourse I am a rated player.

The Virtual 95 machine uses a "Play" CD made as an .iso file.

It runs smothely on Virtual PC 2007, but fails on the new built in hardware accelerated Virtual machine in 64 bit Windows 7.

  • I see, will give it a try when I have time. Currently, I'm running it on real win98se with a font hack (the original font only works properly on win95). Maybe some day I will post all the games for cracking the king (about 50 of them in all)

  • heya, glad to see another power chess 98 fan (I made a video for it too). Did you ever encounter random crashes while playing a game? I've tried VPC in the past, as well as vmware, but both seem to suffer from the same problem. It is not frequent but it happens for me.
