Why aren't cops armed with these instead of tazers?

Or is that a stupid question, and it's because cops like tazing people?

lol well i cant be sure but i doubt this would work on a American. lol they're a smaller people in Asia (well the Asian parts) and more easily hindered by puny nets, also there are people that wont go down from a taser SOOO taking a page out of a comic book i propose taser nets with a remote controlled "zapper" built in... woah long comment

Because these are big, bulky, and impractical in certain situations. You can't net someone in a car, you can't net someone assaulting another person, it's not reloadable if you miss a running person, it may fail in tight spaces or indoors. Besides the fact that (bar a minority of police officers who don't use the tazer properly), you need a weapon that remotely equals the threat posed to you. A "softly softly" approach is mindless with some people.

Shooting someone armed with a gun (like at the beginning of this video) would likely ensure someone getting shot.

I think a better application of this would be on-foot pursuit of criminals.

Why don't they use these and other weapons on Somalia Pirates ?! Or we don't want to ruin their kidnapping and ransom operations, so no resistance is the proper action?

This is an excellent idea. It would give law enforcement an alternative to catch criminals alive without the need for brute force. Even though it's just a simple net, it will still incapacitate a criminal giving enough time for the authorities to nab him/her.
