The usb host mode is there hidden in the Nook Touch from B&N, and given similarity of hardware to Nook Color, it's surprising nobody tried it before.

Now that the power is unlocked, please use it wisely.

  • Quick question: what is the white device to the left? Is it related? Do I need one? If not, it should not be there. You may as well put a dead puppy right between the keyboard and the Nook and say nothing about it. People might go and kill puppies, but more importantly, your video would be a tad misleading.

  • @TheVastConspiracy The white device is a small usb hub. I use it to demonstrate that the Nook Touch does not have enough of juice to power the hub on its own, even though it can power just the keyboard.

You still might want to use a hub with external power to power some more power-hungry devices, though (and also if you want to connect more than just a keyboard).

  • Hey, TouchPad isn't the only device out there.

Thanks for another cool work you did here! I don't own a Nook Touch, but considering the fact that I was once looking to buy Nook Color purely for the CM7 ROM you guys had made for it, I'm excited to see some developments for Nook Touch too!

  • @dong2512 Pity B&N went to the dark side now with their locked bootloader approach. So the only viable devices from them are Nook Color and Nook Touch.

Even Amazon did not go to lock the bootloader in their Kindle Fire.

  • I just want to say that this is an amazing project and Andrew and Green deserve a huge amount of praise for getting this started. People who type for a living don't necessarily love looking at flickering back-lit computer screens. This will change so much for so many people, and it's but one more reason why people should be happy that open-source software has stayed at the forefront of consumer technology. The keyboard an e-ink are a perfect match that has been too long in the making.

  • Ok. The audio is a little on the quiet side, so forgive me of you mentioned it, but it seems everyone's avoiding the elephant in the room. What's up with the doll? I mean, it looks like a nice doll, has some good and practical fashion sense, but there it is, none the less.

  • epic win

  • @greentheonly yeah, it's a shame. I might have considered getting a Nook Tablet had there not had been a TouchPad firesale but even if I hadn't gotten a TouchPad, not being able to use the CM ROM would have been enough to put me off purchasing a Nook Tablet.

  • Yes I am a TouchPad owner but i think we as testers and enthusiast should support and cheer on all devices. I'm really happy to see the android eco system grow so i can share maybe not the same but atleast similar experience with my fellow tablet owners. Keep up the great work greentheonly! Appreciate all the work you and the CM team do =]

  • Thanks for your incredibly fast work on this! (I "commissioned" this project only last week)

  • @PaulMca7 to bad mate
