Disco gave simple, plain, and awkward guys like me a chance to shine with our ability to move it on the floor and be judged on more than our marginal looks. I met my charming wife while Donna was singing this at a Disco in Brooklyn and she is still with me after almost 40 years. Thank you Donna! You are sorely missed but will always be remembered.

On this day in 1978 {May 17th} the movie "Thank God It's Friday" had its debut in Los Angeles, CA

Two days later on May 19th the film had its official premier in New York City...

The song "Last Dance" by Donna Summer won an Academy Award for 'Best Original Song'...

Sadly, exactly 34 years later on May 17th, 2012 Donna Summer passed away at the age of 63...

Thumbs up if you agree with me that it is complete and utter bullsh*t that the "rock experts" of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame kept Donna out until after her death. The Queen of Disco should have been in long ago!!

Oh lord, does this bring back memories. Donna Summer was the queen of disco and I danced my ass off every Friday and Saturday night to her songs while the mirrored disco ball spun. What I wouldn't give for one more night at the disco!
